| As the founder of Catalyst, Eric Leocadio
has 10 years of experience in coaching, training, and inspiring
potential leaders in the high school level, college and university
level and in the community. He has helped individuals in strategic
planning, business plan development, grant preparation, presentation
coaching, establishment of personal and professional vision
and goals, event planning and program development. He attended
California
State University, San Bernardino for two and a half years
majoring in Psychology, decided to postpone his education
in order to work full time, then returned to school seven
years later earning a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information
Systems at DeVry
University, Long Beach in February 2005 as the Valedictorian
and graduation
speaker. He is an active member of Speak
Out! Toastmasters, a local Toastmasters International
club, having won a 1st place trophy at the Area E2 International
Speech Contest and took 2nd place at the Division E International
Speech Contest in Southern California.
Eric has four years of prior experience in establishing a
grassroots community organization. In 2002, he co-founded
Kingdom
Causes, a faith-based non-profit organization established
to help network and mobilize the faith communities of Long
Beach. Having learned much from this work, Eric has established
Catalyst with the hopes of serving as a bridge to the broader
community by connecting the many fragmented social circles
of an area and mobilizing them to serve and volunteer in the
city.
Eric understands the tension of discrimination, racism, and
injustice. He started a personal blog called Two
World Collision to chronicle his process and journey of
exploring what it looks like to be both gay and Christian
and to overcome a sense of ethnic shame. It has developed
into a community of people who all share a similar journey.
He has reconciled his faith and sexuality and has embraced
his ethnic heritage. He helps others journey through finding
peace in the midst of confusing times. Click
